Steven Labouyrie of France was the winner of the FIM Long Track Youth World Cup in Wittstock on Saturday, heading Germany’s Ben Ernst and Australian Keynan Rew in the Final.
Both Ernst, winner of the FIM Speedway Youth World Championship in Torun on the previous evening and Rew, bronze medallist in the same competition, brought their form with them from Poland and looked to be serious contenders during the qualifying races although Ernst was restricted by two retirements. Neither was able to match Labouyrie in the Final as he added to the growing success of French riders in Track Racing.
There was heartbreak for Erik Bachhuber who had qualified with the highest score dropping only one point to Rew in Heat 12 but a retirement in the Final ended his hopes and he finished in fourth place. Jonny Wynant was fifth after falling in the Final.
Very good point for overseas’ Riders as Keynan Rew made it to the podium for his first participation in a long track meeting.
