FIM Cross-Country Bajas World Cup, round 2
Baja Portalegre 500
November 5-7, 2020
Because of the health situation across Europe, action in this year’s FIM Cross-Country Bajas World Cup was not typical of a normal season and only two events were organised – Baja do Pinhal in September and this weekend’s Baja Portalegre 500.
As the curtain draws on the season, 13 riders are registered in the FIM motorcycle category in Portugal, in addition to two quads and six SSVs (subject to licence validation).
Sebastien Buhler (Hero) will arrive in Portalegre leading the FIM Bajas World Cup, ahead of the two young Polish riders from Team Orlen - Adam Tomicek and Maciej Giemza (Husqvarna). The latter is also in contention for the Junior Cup with Chilean rival Tomas de Gavardo (KTM).
In the Women's category, Brazilian Janaina Souza (Honda) will be aiming to win the title, just like Sara Garcia (Yamaha), while Rosa Romero (KTM) was unable to participate in the first event that was originally postponed because of fire risks, but she will be present in Portalegre.
In the Quad section, Luis Engeitado (Yamaha) will have to see off the challenge from the Spaniard Toni Vingut (KTM) to take the laurels.
Programme of events:
Administrative and technical checks will take place on Thursday, November 5 in the Nerpor de Portalegre exhibition centre.
• Friday November 6
SS1 - 3.60km: this will give the starting order for the second special.
SS2 - 80km
• Saturday November 7
SS3 - 330km
