Last night the girls of the Trial paddock enjoyed a special evening as the FIM Women in Motorcycling Commission celebrated its tenth anniversary. Around eighty people gathered for a private dinner that was hosted by the commission in the ski resort of Isola 2000, France to mark this momentous occasion. The weekend of the final round of the 2016 FIM Women’s Trial World Championship and the 2016 FIM Women’s Trial des Nations was chosen to both enjoy and share this significant birthday as Women’s Trial has always been an important part of the female project and was the first of the FIM Women’s World Championships to be realised back in 2000.
The ladies were joined by World number three Takahisa Fujinami – Repsol Honda who provided some kind words of encouragement to the younger girls in the audience and then offered his own congratulations to all the Women present as he then raised a glass to toast the FIM Women in Motorcycling Commission’s tenth anniversary. Recently crowned and triple FIM Women’s Trial World Champion Emma Bristow – Sherco and 2007 FIM Women’s Trial World Champion Iris Kramer were amongst the other speakers as the guests enjoyed their dinner.
Nita Korhonen - Director Women in Motorcycling Commission explained. “For the past decade the commission has worked hard and dedicated all its energy to increase the number of Women in involved in motorcycling and to promote their presence in all motorcycling related activities, sporting and non-sporting. Many projects and initiatives have been implemented to reach these goals. The FIM Women’s Trial World Championship will always have a special place, as it was the first of the FIM Women’s World Championships to be created, so tonight is a great way to celebrate our tenth birthday.”
