Gleb Chugunov makes FIM Speedway Grand Prix debut in Wroclaw on August 28 and 29.
Wroclaw shooting star Gleb Chugunov makes his World Championship debut as wild card for Betard FIM Speedway Grand Prix rounds one and two in Wroclaw on August 28 and 29.
The Russian-born racer, who obtained Polish citizenship during the winter, lines up in the famous No.16 race jacket for the opening weekend of this year’s coronavirus-delayed SGP series, which will be contested over eight rounds across four edge-of-the-seat weekends.
Chugunov is no stranger to world championship racing having joined forces with SGP duo Emil Sayfutdinov and Artem Laguta to claim Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations gold medals with Russia in Wroclaw in 2018 and then Togliatti in 2019.
The 20-year-old, who has previously competed in the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship Final series, will be racing to make more history on a track where he has enjoyed a sensational season in the PGE Ekstraliga, with Wroclaw firmly in the chase for play-off qualification.
Chugunov is joined in the Wroclaw SGP weekend line-up by club team mates Michal Curzytek and Przemyslaw Liszka, who line up in the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively.
The referee for both rounds in Wroclaw is Krister Gardell from Sweden.
