More than 250 members of the FIM family met in Geneva over the weekend for the 2015 edition of the Conference of FIM Commissions.
This annual gathering is the ideal opportunity for the members of the FIM Board of Directors, the members of the FIM Commissions and the FIM Administration to meet and exchange views and information on topics linked to motorcycling.
On the Saturday morning, all Commissions attended a plenary session where a wide range of cross-cutting subjects were addressed in a series of presentations. The topics included the FIM’s Enduro (ISDE) and Cross-Country Rally disciplines, the benefits of partnerships beyond sport (e.g. FEMA) and the new FIM communication tools.
Messrs Dieter Sass, Kasipillai Kanagalingam and Bruno Appolloni, who stepped down from their positions in FIM Commissions at the end of 2014 after more than 20 years of dedicated volunteer service, as well as current Commission Members Messrs Jean-Marc Desnues (CCR), Igor Eskinja (CCR), Fabio Fazi (CTI), André Pahud (CTI), Guy Mélon (CMI), Jean-Pierre Moreau (CAP) and Jacques Bourguignon (CJI), who have devoted more than 25-30 years to the FIM, were warmly thanked by a standing ovation and presented with a diploma and a token of the FIM’s appreciation.
The Commissions, whose Directors and Members were recently appointed for a four-year term, consistent with the Presidential term (2018), then met individually to discuss their challenges for the coming season and finalise their working programmes for the year. In conjunction with these meetings, the FIM organised various Superlicence seminars, working groups and a meeting of Chief Medical Officers.
After the weekend, FIM Chief Executive Officer Ignacio Verneda noted with satisfaction that the Conference had gone well: “This annual get-together is very important for the FIM. It reinforces the cooperation and the communication within Commissions and encourages interaction between the members of the FIM Family.”
