Jason Crump has no intention of falling at the final hurdle in the race for FIM Speedway World Championship glory.
The Australian, bidding for a third individual world crown, takes a 17-point lead into the last round at Bydgoszcz, Poland, on October 17.
Crump scored just four points at the Italian Grand Prix having been hampered by "intense" pain in his upper left arm, on which he had a skin graft recently.
Veteran Pole Tomasz Gollob and teenage Russian sensation Emil Sayfutdinov could still deny Crump.
The 34-year-old told his website: "I will be receiving daily hospital treatment and working out in the gym each day, so I hope that I am fully fit in time.
"I am so close but yet so far away and winning a third world championship is my ultimate goal right now."
