The FIM was delighted to welcome an important group of representatives from the Wanda Group to their headquarters in Mies, Switzerland yesterday afternoon. The Wanda Group based in Beijing is the parent company of Infront Entertainment, who announced last January the acquisition of Youthstream, the promoter of the FIM Motocross World Championship also referred to as the MXGP.
As one of the leading sports marketing companies in the world, Wanda Sports is the exclusive commercial partner of a dozen international sports federations, including FIFA and FIBA. Wanda Sports' portfolio features 20 different sports across the globe – from football, winter sports, cycling to basketball and many, many more.
Taking advantage of their already planned trip to the country the Wanda Group party headed by Chairman Wang Jianlin paid a courtesy visit to the FIM, where they were greeted by FIM President Jorge Viegas and FIM CEO Tony Skillington, who took this opportunity to make a presentation of the main FIM Championships and additional activities to the FIM promoters of the MXGP series.
Confirming the importance of this occasion Chairman Wang Jianlin was joined by Vice President Lincoln Zhang and their assistant Bruce Wu, Infront Sport CEO Philippe Blatter, Vice President of Summer Sport Julien Ternisien, Youthstream President Giuseppe Luongo, and Youthstream CEO David Luongo.
Following the successful meeting FIM President Jorge Viegas remarked: “With our promoter Youthstream now part of this powerful group, it offers great opportunities for the future of motorcycle sport.”
