During the Italian Motorcycle Federation’s (FMI) 74thOrdinary Elective National Assembly, held virtually on Sunday 1st November from Riccione (RN), Giovanni Copioli was confirmed as President of the FMI. Copioli was elected by the first ballot winning 8,534 votes out of 9,123 available.
At the close of the meeting, the President Giovanni Copioli declared with great enthusiasm: "Today’s result is a great satisfaction for me and for the whole FMI team. It is the testimony that Moto Clubs and members have appreciated the work we have done in the last four years and above all it is a strong sign of confidence for the next mandate. Unfortunately, we were unable to carry out this event in their presence, sharing the passion with our whole World, but as soon as possible I will meet our enthusiasts in order to share our work and ideas. I am particularly happy that the Federal Council team has been confirmed and this will allow us to work according to a strong unity of purpose. I conclude by thanking the Mayor of Riccione, Renata Tosi, for the hospitality extended to us, all the personalities and riders who contributed via video.”
Ten members of the Federal Council were also elected:Giuseppe Bartolucci, Monica Goi, Rocco Lopardo, Francesco Mezzasalma, Ettore Pirisi, Lorena Sangiorgi, Armando Sponga, Alessandro Maccioni, Letizia Marchetti, Raffaele Prisco. Francesco Brandi was confirmed as President of the Board of Auditors”.
During the Assembly, prominent personalities from the World of sports and internationally renowned riders offered their greetings through numerous and heartfelt video contributions. After the opening of the Assembly by the President Copioli, Moto Clubs, members and enthusiasts were able to listen to the speeches by Giovanni Malagò (CONI President), Jorge Viegas (FIM President), Martin De Graaff (FIM Europe President) and Vito Cozzoli (President of Sport and Health). The speeches from Giacomo Agostini, Antonio Cairoli, Max Biaggi, Giò Sala, Andrea Dovizioso, Francesco Bagnaia, Danilo Petrucci, and many other Italian talents and CIV athletes were delivered with passion. In addition, the centenary Moto Clubs were commemorated and numerous people who unfortunately passed away during the four-year period were commemorated.
At the end of the day, the first Federal Council of the new four-year period was held in which Giuseppe Bartolucci (Vicar) and Rocco Lopardo were elected FMI Vice Presidents. Alberto Rinaldelli has been confirmed as Secretary General of the FMI.
