Torun favourite Pawel Przedpelski will race in his hometown FIM Speedway World Championship round once again after being named as NICE Torun FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland wild card.
Przedpelski lines up in the famous No.16 race jacket at the Marian Rose Motoarena on October 7 for what will be his third SGP outing. He made his debut when he scored four points as a track reserve in 2014 and was due to serve as wild card a year later – only to withdraw hours from tapes up due to injury. But he made up for that disappointment last season, scoring eight points as No.16 and falling just a point short of the semi-finals.
Przedpelski will be keen to take that next step this year, especially after a season blighted by the broken fibula he suffered on his debut for SGB Premiership team Leicester in July. He is joined in the meeting by track reserves Bartosz Smektala and Igor Kopec-Sobczynski, who line up at No.17 and No.18 respectively.
Leszno racer Smektala could arrive in Torun as World Under-21 champion after winning round two of the final in Gustrow last Friday to move within a point of series leader Maksym Drabik, who suffered a broken collarbone that night. The decider takes place at Czech track Pardubice on September 29.
Meanwhile, Kopec-Sobczynski is a regular at reserve for Torun in the Polish Ekstraliga.
The referee is Krister Gardell from Sweden.
