Michael Jepsen Jensen leads the scorers for the Under 21 Championship despite finishing second in the Fifth Round in front of nearly 6000 spectators in Pardubice on Saturday in a meeting dominated by the top four riders. Current titleholder Maciej Janowski took first place dropping his only point to third placed Aleksandr Loktaev who set the fastest time of the meeting when beating him in Heat 13.
Jepsen Jensen had appeared to be on his best form winning his first two races from the gate but in an uncharacteristic Heat 12 he allowed both Loktaev and fellow Dane Mikkel B Jensen to pass him to spoil his maximum ambitions. He beat Ukrainian Loktaev in a run off for second spot after both had tied on 13 points.
Best of the rest was Latvian Andrzejs Lebedevs a late replacement for injured Piotr Pawlicki. His 9 points earned him fourth place which would have been better but for a tapes disqualification in his second ride. The local riders were disappointing with both the Holub brothers and Vaclav Milik failing to make any impression despite their home advantage.
