The Track Racing and the Technical Commissions of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) met manufacturers of Additional Protective Devices (APDs) in Prague last Saturday, on the occasion of the 2018 FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship event held in the Czech Republic.
The purpose of the meeting, organised in the framework of the FIM Racing Homologation Programme (FRHP) for safety products, was to discuss the updating of the current homologation system for Track Racing APDs, notably in terms of:
• the homologation procedures (structure, documents and communication);
• visibility of homologated brands and models;
• possible random testing requirement by FIM;
• implementation of an official FIM identification system to facilitate tracking of the APDs.
Airfence, Champion Products, Liski, Mears Holdings Limited T/A Funtime, No Pain, Sidijk, SPM and The Awning Company were represented at the meeting.
