Miguel Duhamel will be in pole position this afternoon for the race of the FIM e-Power and TTXGP Championships, curtain raiser for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Riding the Lightening, Miguel Duhamel clocked up a best lap in 1’49.200. The Canadian champion, guest rider for the US team Barracuda Racing, is ahead of Matthias Himmelmann of the Münch Racing Team. Matthias Himmelmann, 2011 e-Power champion, improved his best time this morning with a lap in 1’50.144. This is a fine performance for Miguel Duhamel, who is returning to competition after 20 years in AMA Superbike from 1990 to 2010 to pit himself against the best FIM e-Power championship team of the moment.
There was no improvement this morning for the Zongshen Racing Team’s Ho Chi Fung, but the Chinese rider is still ahead of Münch Racing Team rider Katja Poensgen of Germany on the grid. However, Tang Yu of the Zongshen Racing Team and David Dumain, editor-in-chief of the French racing magazine Moto Journal and guest rider for the Chinese team, were able to validate their qualifying times this morning after being held up by crashes in yesterday’s session.
Also qualified is Christian Amendt of Germany who had to completely rebuild his motorcycle yesterday after his engine burned out.
The race will start at 16.35 this afternoon and will cover eight laps.
