It is with great sadness that the FIM learnt of the passing of Bambang Gunardi, former Commission for Circuit Racing Bureau Member, on Thursday 30 August in Djakarta, Indonesia. Bambang was aged 77.
He was first elected as a member of the FIM Road Racing Commission at the Congress in Athens in 1997, as representative of Asia, for one year.
He was appointed to the Commission as a CCR member at the Prague Congress in 2002, serving until 2010.
At the Macau Congress, he was appointed as a CCR Bureau member, a position he held until 2014, but even after leaving the Commission he always remained in contact with the FIM and followed the CCR’s activities.
Always a quiet person, Bambang will nevertheless be remembered for his wise words.
On behalf of the FIM, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to Bambang Gunardi’s family and friends.
