Trials enthusiast and fan Mickael Pichon was a surprise visitor at the French Trial Grand Prix at Breal-sous-Montfort. The ex two times 250 MX World Champion is a good trial rider in his own right and spent the day as an interested spectator in and around the Trial Park. During the height of his career, Pichon was a regular Trial rider as part of his tough training regime.
The thirty-four year old who originates from Le Mans, France now spends his time assisting his son who is contesting the French MX series. Mickael is a strong believer that Trial riding is an important part of any good MX rider’s preparation, with ten times MX World Champion Stefan Everts also being a strong advocate of the same regime.
“Unfortunately I don’t have that much time to ride my Trial bike these days as I am working a lot with my son. I really like to watch and ride Trial, it is a very skilful sport and seeing the best riders in the World here today is incredible. I have been to a World indoor Trial before, but never an outdoor Trial GP, so it has been a nice experience.”
Pichon used the opportunity to speak with ex multi FIM Trial World champion Dougie Lampkin, the title winning pair having met previously when Lampkin visited selected MXGP's during Mickael’s reign.
