The participants in this year’s major classic touring event – the 74th FIM Rally in Roskilde in Denmark – will be a part of the annual official opening of the UNESCO Geopark Festival at Odsherred.
The FIM Rally is the oldest touring event in Europe and one of the oldest globally, but compared to a UNESCO Geopark it is very young indeed. Geopark Odsherred in Denmark consists of a landscape formed around 17’000 years ago.
The part of Denmark called Odsherred was named a UNESCO Geopark in 2014 and each year a festival takes place there from the beginning of August. This year it falls on the same day the participants in the FIM Rally are on their official excursion and they are invited to attend the opening of the 2019 Geopark festival.
The first FIM Rally was organised in 1936 and, with a pause from 1939 to 1950, it has been held every year since then in most of the European countries and in Tunisia in 1996.
If you are a motorcyclist and would like to experience both the rally and the Geopark, contact your national FIM member federation or visit the organiser at: www.fim-rally2019.com.
