World Environment Day (WED) is an annual event and the biggest and most widely celebrated day for positive environmental action worldwide. Wed activities take place all year round but peak on 5 June every year, involving everyone from everywhere.
This year the theme is "raise your voice, not the sea level". The aim is to contribute to global action to reduce the risks faced by Small Island States as the seas rise under the impact of global warming.
As a sports organisation we are joining these celebrations with this video starring MotoGP World Champion and FIM Environmental Ambassador Marc Márquez. Marc makes a great contribution to raising awareness among our sporting community with the message that “small changes can achieve great results. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE!
Along with Marc Márquez, Valentino Rossi, Laia Sanz, Alex Salvini and Takahisa Fujinami make up the team of FIM Ambassadors who will support this year’s Ride Green campaign which includes environmental education, awareness actions and implementation of the FIM Environmental Code and sustainability policy.
The United Nations Environment Programme, one of FIM’s main contractual partners since 2006, recently agreed to renew its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the FIM. This document reflects the joint commitment of both organisations to work more closely together in the coming years.
The FIM invites you to post your messages and mobilise the motorcycle community! #WED2014
