1968 marked the passing of the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. This has done much to harmonise road traffic regulations across the world.
Joining 50th anniversary celebration on 24th March 2019 former Ferrari F1 star, Brazilian Felipe Massa, brought along the helmet that saved his life in a dramatic incident in F1.
FIM became active in the United Nations 30 years ago in 1988.
John Chatterton-Ross, FIM Director of Public Affairs commented: “This is never ending work. Under the Vienna Convention regular advice is given to countries on best practice. This week we are present in the UN at the Palais des Nations in Geneva to work on new advice on motorcycling safety focused on middle and low-income countries. A partner in this work is Dr Rohit Baluja of the IRTE in India. – He too serves of one of the FIM independent judges alongside Dr Iorio.”
