Hungarian Baja - August 10-11, 2018 – FIM Cross-Country Bajas World Cup, round 3
Super Special (SS1): 11.40km
Built on five hills in baroque style, the pretty little Hungarian town of Veszprém has over a hundred listed buildings. It is located 17km from the famous Lake Balaton and is the largest town in the Bakony forest.
The town is surrounded by winding dirt tracks and forests that will host the two-day third and last round of the FIM Cross-Country Bajas World Cup.
Ten motorcycle riders and seven quads will pass through administration and technical checks on Friday morning in the buildings of the BudaWest airport in Veszprém.
The motorcycles and quads will then be placed into Parc Ferme in Ovaros Square, the city’s main square, before a competitors’ briefing at 4pm and the opening ceremony at 6pm. These formalities precede the 11.4km super special stage that will define the starting order for the second stage.
The motorcycle category has attracted some well known faces, most notably Emirati Mohammed Al-Balooshi (KTM), Stefan Svitko (KTM) and the Italian Manuel Lucchese returning on his Yamaha. Entries also include Mario Patrao (KTM) and the only girl coming to defend her title – the Portuguese rider Rita Viera (Yamaha).
Seven riders will compete in the quad category for the FIM Cross-Country Bajas World Cup crown, including the Spaniard Daniel Vila Vaques (Yamaha), Arnaldo Martins (Suzuki) and Khalifa Al-Raisse (Honda). Only Olga Rouczkova (Yamaha) is registered in the women’s category.
