FIM Homologation
Recommended and Approved Programmes
The FIM Homologation Programme has been created by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) to run a “Recommended” and “Approved” Programme on its behalf.
The industry is given an opportunity to submit their products for recommendation and approval. Their products should be tested by a recognized and qualified testing institute (accepted by the FIM Homologation Programme) according to at least the minimum standards established by FIM.
The “Recommended” Programme shall cover the period beginning on 1st January 2009 and expiring on 31st December 2010, the “Approved” Programme shall cover the period beginning on 1st January 2011 and expiring on 31st December 2014.
GUIDELINES
- How to obtain FIM “Recommended”
The industry applying for “Recommended” must have been in activity for at least 5 years, and the product for which they are seeking approval, must have been in the relevant market segment for at least 4 years.
The industry must send a written request including definition and area of activity (i.e.: OEM and after market product, protective clothing, barriers, air fence…) of the product for which a recommendation is requested and all relevant technical literature* and documentation to:

* The technical information should comprise brochures, commercial leaflets and technical specifications.
The Industry must send to the FIM Homologation Programme the questionnaire for New Applicants.
- How to obtain FIM “Approved”
After 2 years of FIM “Recommended”, send to the FIM Homologation Programme copies of the quality certification of the product (TÜV, ISO, UTAC, SAE…) from recognized International Test Institutes.
The tests must meet the minimum FIM requirements for the specific product category. All tests performed are at the expense of the industry.
