Julian Simon, the FIM 125cc World Championship winner, and Mapfre Aspar team-mate Mike Di Meglio have spent time on track experiencing a Moto2 machine for the first time ahead of the 2010 season.
The pair will race Aprilia-engined machines in the new class next season but because prototype bikes will not be ready before a test at Valencia on December 9-10 they were in action at the same Spanish circuit on machines loaned by the BQR Honda team.
They spent just under three hours on track getting used to riding a four-stroke machine with Simon completing 35 laps and setting a best time of one minute 38.8 seconds.
Di Meglio was a tenth of a second slower with his best time from 40 laps completed.
