Marquez takes pole

Spain's Marc Marquez kicked off his 2010 season in style by claiming pole position for Sunday's opening FIM 125cc World Championship race in Qatar.

The Red Bull Ajo rider, third quickest in both of the earlier free practice sessions, turned it on when it mattered most with his time of 2'06.651 good for top spot under the floodlights at Losail.

Pol Espargaro (Tuenti Racing), who set the pace in practice, had to be content with second place on the grid, just under half a second off the pace.

Nico Terol (Bancaja Aspar) and Efren Vazquez (Tuenti Racing) completed the front row.
