2010 has been a great year for the Spanish when it comes to top level Trial. With the exception of British rider Jack Challoner – Beta winning the Junior class at the 2010 SPEA FIM World Championship, every other title that has been up for grabs has been won by a rider carrying the distinctive red and yellow flag. Twenty-three year old Toni Bou – Repsol Montesa set the tone for the season by winning all but one of the five rounds on route to taking his fourth successive SPEA FIM Indoor Trial World Championship. Bou would later add the 2010 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship to his list of honours as he took his tally to an impressive eight individual FIM World titles at such a young age.
Bou’s season was complete as he then led Spain to victory in the 2010 FIM Trial des Nations. Toni’s achievement’s were almost matched across in the female section of the sport with his team mate Laia Sanz – Repsol Montesa securing a record setting tenth FIM Women’s Trial World Championship before playing her part in leading Spain to success in the Women’s Cup at the 2010 FIM Trial des Nations. With the Spanish based Repsol Montesa team once again taking the FIM Manufacturers’ Trial World Championship, Pol Tarres – Gas Gas was left to complete the celebrations by clinching the Youth title in the 2010 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship.
