Pharaoh's Rally

04/10/10 - 08:37

Administrative and technical checks in Cairo

For the last two days, Pyramids Park Resort Cairo in Giza has been in effervescence. From the restaurant to the parking going to the reception, the hotel is invaded by the organization and the competitors of the 13th edition of Pharaoh's Rally, last round of the 2010 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship.

The heat wave and humidity are part of the meeting and the thermometer, which passes very close to the 36°C, forecasts a physically demanding rally. Riders attending to Pharaoh's Rally are, as always, a very attractive group, with 77 bikes and 11 quads. Marc Coma and the Polish Team with Przygonski, Dabrowski and Czachor are still behind the handlebars of KTM 690, while other top riders have passed to the 450 cc in order to prepare themselves for next the Dakar. Chaleco Lopez came from Chile to improve Aprilia which has evolved well since the last Dakar Rally and is assisted by Gerard Farres. The two team mates were more than happy to find themselves and stared in front of the new Aprilia prototype with small front plastic tanks and the weight has been distributed well on the back and the middle of the bike in which Alex Zanotti rides on this rally. In the Aprilia´s crew, we also find Matteo Graziani and Francisco Arredondo that now line with the `450 Pro'.

Helder Rodrigues, who will attend to the Dakar with Yamaha France, stays with Team Orlen to transport his bike during the race.

Registered last minute, Chilean Jaime Prohens rolls with Mécasystem, along with Argentinian Eduardo Alan and two brand new Rockies: Danish Jes Munk and French, Philippe Kelp.

Mécasystem also assists the Argentinian, Marco Patronnelli, in quad. The winner of Dakar will discover tomorrow the Egyptian tracks for the first time and will have to defend his title facing Dmitry Pavlov (Russian), Rafal Sonik and our famous female quad rider: Camelia Liparotti.

All these top riders will take the official start tomorrow at 8:00 - for 2200 km of Special Sections of which a first stage of 441 km, with the Pyramids of Cheops, Kefren and Mykerinos as a background...
