Cairo - El Rammak

Road connection: 67.92 km - Special: 366.26km - Road Connection: 7.42 km - Total:  441 km

All competitors of the Pharaohs’ Rally 2010, the last leg of the FIM Cross Country Rally World Championship have left Cairo after a passage by the official start situated in front of the Pyramids.

Wearing nº1, Marc Coma has opened the track, followed by all riders of "Open" class, with bikes of more than 450 cc. At the arrival of El Rammak bivouac, it was a small cylinder (450 cc) riders who took the lead with "Chaleco" López (Aprilia) on the top, followed by Helder Rodrigues (Yamaha) and Alex Zanotti who is testing the Aprilia 450 with small tanks. "It was a special section for big bikes - stated Francisco López at the arrival- .It was fast and without any big difficulties. I was a little anxious about the fuel consumption of my Aprilia but it has evolved well. Sure, I started way behind and all I had to do was to control the bearing, but it was a great day with some dunes to cross."

Jakub Przygonski finishes 4th, in front of Marc Coma who had a problem with the trip master. "I didn´t see that my trip master wasn´t working correctly," explains the Spanish rider, "so I lost some time because I wasn´t in the right kilometer. And also, when we open the road, it is hard to win a stage..."

In quad, Argentinean Marcos Patronelli did a great performance. Last Dakar quad´s winner arrived first to the bivouac while discovering the African Desert for the very first time. He did part of the special with Rafak Sonik.

Tomorrow, competitors will be facing a varied program: A combination of dunes and stony tracks that will take them to the bivouac of Bir Karawein after 354 km of special section.
