Not content with being a one-time world champion in 2009, Darcy Ward has joined the motorcycle racing elite, winning his second consecutive FIM Speedway Under 21 World Championship in the Pardubice - Czech Republic.
The scenario couldn't be better for the FIM Speedway World Championship Final Series, the title was decided during the last 64 seconds in Pardubice. Darcey produced a brilliant performance on the biggest stage, claiming title number two in a three-way race-off.
Maciej Janowski won the last Final meeting of the U21 series with brio and show great skills.
Finishing level on points (30 points) at the completion of the 20 runs with Poland’s Maciej Janowski and Latvian Maksim Bogdanov, Ward produced a flawless race to win the race-off and another FIM world championship crown.
Already an Australian Under-21 representative, 2010 has been another year of improvement for Ward on the back of a 2009 that saw him add an Australian FIM Speedway U21 Championship to his world crown.
The 18-year-old has spent the last two years racing in Europe, and is currently competing in the British Elite League (BEL) for the Poole Pirates.
We are pretty sure to see these 3 U21 Speedway riders next year in the 2011 Final series made of 4 meetings.
