A clearly determined Toni Bou - Repsol Montesa got his season off to the best possible start by winning round one of the 2011 SPEA FIM X-Trial World Championship, held in Genoa, Italy. Bou’s triumph puts him in pole position for a fifth consecutive title as the series now takes a short break before resuming in January.
“I am delighted with this victory,” explained Bou. “It was really important for me to get a good result in Italy and now I can go into the break feeling confident. It was a very close event, but I rode well and I am happy to finish above Albert Cabestany -Sherco, who was tough to beat.”
“Right now I am taking the championship one round at a time as it is too early to start thinking about a fifth title,” continued Bou. “I know that Cabestany and Adam Raga - Gas Gas will train hard during the next month and they will want to beat me in Marseille. I must also concentrate and work hard to give myself the best chance of another victory in France.”
