Mr Stephan Carapiet was elected President of the FIM Asian Motorcycle Union (UAM) during the 2010 UAM FIM Congress held Friday 15 and Saturday 16 January 2010 in Manila, Philippines, in the presence of FIM President Vito Ippolito and FIM Vice-President Jorge Viegas.
UAM Vice-President since 2002 as well as UAM Motocross & Enduro President since 1998, Mr Carapiet takes over from Mr Shi Tianshu who had been the President since 2006. He received the majority of votes from the delegates representing the 22 member countries in the UAM. During the next four years, Stephan Carapiet will oversee the motorcycle sports policies and activities in the Asian continental union and will also take a seat in the FIM Management Council.
Mr Carapiet’s Vice-Presidents recently elected are Saudi Arabia’s Mishaal Al Sudairy, India’s Shrikant Kirani and China’s Yan Jianchang. The UAM Secretariat will be transferred to the home country of the elected President in the Philippines.
