Home
Assen in the north-east of the Netherlands is the spiritual home of Dutch motorcycle racing. The famous TT Circuit where MotoGP and Superbike rounds are regularly held is known to road race fans throughout the world. Similarly, the De Bonte Wever Stadium in the town is universally recognised by Ice Racing followers and it is here that the third round of the 2012 FIM Ice Speedway Gladiators World Championship will be held next month. Motorclub Assen is celebrating 40 years of Ice racing at this iconic venue and will mark the anniversary by hosting the European Individual Final on behalf of FIM Europe and the World Championship for FIM on consecutive weekends.

The Russians currently hold the leading 6 places on the leader board but with the first two rounds having been held in their home country, this will be the first opportunity of this season for them to demonstrate their abilities on an artificial ice surface. The 370 metres covered track traditionally provides good racing and the results from the two days should confirm their domination in this discipline.
The Netherlands who are represented by their top rider René Stellingwerf also supply the second reserve with Germany’s Gunther Bauer taking the No 17 slot. Wild Card for this round is Stefan Svensson from Sweden.
Racing takes place on Friday and Saturday evening under floodlights and starting at 17.00. Further details including live timing from TAG Heuer will appear on this website.
