An absolute sensation is set to take Europe by storm on the 16th/17th March 2012! A Best Trick Contest is to feature for the first time ever as part of the NIGHT of the JUMPS/FIM Freestyle MX World Championship. The audience will watch with bated breath at Berlin’s O2 World, as extreme freestyle motocross riders risk life and limb to produce their very best trick in the hunt for medals and top prize money.
There ‘ll be trick premieres and daredevil stunts galore, since for the first time in NIGHT of the JUMPS history, FMX riders will execute one ‘special’ trick. The freestyle stars will experience a massive adrenaline rush and the audience will fizz with excitement. The eyes of the entire extreme sports world will be on Berlin that weekend, and everyone will be cheering as Germany enjoys a whiff of the X Games. In addition, BMX and mountain bike trick riders will let fly with a brilliant show of stunts on the new NIGHT of the JUMPS Super Ramp.
But this constitutes only a small part of the action at the most sensational NIGHT of the JUMPs of all time when FMX riders from nearly every continent seek to deliver a knock-out blow in the freestyle competition and the battle for important world championship points.
Not only will three world champions be lining up at the start in the shape of Remi Bizouard (FRA), Libor Podmol (CZE) and Javier Villegas (CHL), but the winners of the last eight NIGHT of the JUMPS will also be on parade. World champion Villegas secured the first two victories at the season opener in Linz but then crashed in Turin, and he has a tough fight on his hands in Berlin if he is to avoid drifting hopelessly out of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship. Podmol joined Yamaha in 2012 and won the World Championship opener in Turin, which no doubt boosted his confidence for the new season. Bizouard triumphed impressively at the second round of the World Championship in Turin, where he finally performed a 360 once again, throwing down the gauntlet in his fight for a third world title.
X Games medallist Clinton Moore will premiere ‘The Volt’ in Berlin in an effort to secure his first podium. After a long absence, Brice Izzo (FRA) aims to be up there with him once more. But let‘s not forget Maikel Melero and David Rinaldo, who also intend being in the running for a podium finish; the two Doublegrab Backflip specialists have been on top form so far this year.
Of course, the German freestyle brigade – Hannes Ackermann, Fabian Bauersachs, Lukas Weis and Kai Haase – will battle the international FMX elite with all their might, and give their all to reach the finals. Ackermann is a particularly promising candidate, having jumped his way to his first NIGHT of the JUMPS finals this January in Linz and will pull out all the stops to please his home crowd.
New high jump record holder Bianconcini (11.50 metres, in Turin) completes the line-up. Of course, he will be taking part in Maxxis Highest Air contest and will do battle to gain the upper hand on Berlin‘s very own local hero Kai Haase and 14-year-old Luc Ackermann from the region of Thuringia in Germany.
All in all, the programme is shaping up to be the best freestyle show and most memorable NIGHT of the JUMPS that Berlin has ever seen!
