Following a successful and dry weekend of racing, the majority of the MotoGP™ grid had planned to be back out on the Estoril track once again today for their first in-season test, yet wet conditions saw the test cancelled on safety grounds before it could get underway.
After three rounds of intense racing in the new 1000cc era, during which teams have collected a raft of valuable data about their new machines, the session was intended for riders to test not only new parts, but also to confirm certain set-up choices. However, following heavy downpours resulting in poor visibility and unfavourable track conditions, it was decided by the governing bodies to cancel the day’s activities on safety grounds. A meeting will be held between the teams and Bridgestone to discuss possible alternatives for the test to be carried out at a convenient time elsewhere.
