A group of some 180 German motorcyclists from the “Sports Community of the German Parliament” association visited the United Nations building in Geneva last Saturday after a three-day ride through the French and Swiss Alps. Arriving from l’Alpe d’Huez in Geneva over various mountain roads, they attended a short presentation at the UN’s Geneva premises from German UN officials. They were also addressed by FIM Public Policy Commission member Jesper Christensen, who briefly explained the FIM’s activities and objectives in the area of public affairs in various parts of the world.
It was the 13th event of this type since the German Federal Government moved back to Berlin in 1999. In that year, a group of MPs travelled from Bonn to the new capital on their motorcycles, and the annual ride has since become a tradition.
