Once again, the Mika Ahola “Brave One” Trophy gave a lot of emotions to the riders present in the Grand Prix Scorpion Exo of Italy.
The Enduro Test of Castiglion Fiorentino, one of the most beautiful of the season, ensured close competition between the protagonists and experts of the special test that is the essence of the enduro discipline.
NAMBOTIN takes off...
Although he was less dominant than at previous GPs, Christophe NAMBOTIN (F), who placed third on Saturday and 8th on Sunday, extended his advantage over his rivals. 36 points ahead of Pierre-Alexandre RENET (F) Christophe is well positioned to enter into the history of the EWC as the first rider to win the Mika Ahola "Brave One" Trophy!
Pela RENET failed to adapt to the requirements of the Enduro Test in Italy. He will need to recover and perform well at the GP of Sweden or likely be passed by Cristobal GUERRERO (E), Antoine MEO (F) or Juha SALMINEN (SF).
The Spaniard GUERRERO, had a great weekend, not content with having won his first Grand Prix victory, he also dominated his competitors in the Enduro Test by recording a second and a first place. The only rider who was able to beat him was the eight-time World Champion Juha SALMINEN (SF) on Saturday.
Finally, while Ivan CERVANTES (E) was again in trouble (8/10) and with Johnny AUBERT (F) enduring a double DNF, Britain’s David KNIGHT scored 17 points with a 2nd place on Sunday and improves his place in the provisional standings.
Although the dominance of Christophe NAMBOTIN seems obvious, anything can still happen and his rivals will, on August the 25th and 26th in Karlsborg for the Grand Prix Husaberg of Sweden, continue to attack in order to rob him of the #1 position in the Mika Ahola "Brave One" Trophy!
