Successful series over

12/08/12 - 10:29

No luck for the Penz13.com Kraftwerk Herpigny Racing Team at their home race at Oschersleben. After two spills the squad lost the lead in the FIM World Endurance Superstock Championship - a faulty G-Force sensor was the problem. At the end the Oschersleben race brought a P25 overall and a 10th in the Superstock class.

After a cautious start - Pedro Vallcaneras came into troubles with arm pump in his first turn - the team fought to a third place in the Superstock classement. But after Michal Fill took over the handle bars the Penz13.com Kraftwerk Herpigny Racing Team had a first crash. He felt like the throttle didn’t close at all, he said to his crew. Filla went a bit too fast into the Tripple corner and aimed to use the gravel for not crashing. But instead the front tire sunk into the gravel and the bike came round.

Filla pulled the bike up again and tried to start the BMW S 1000 RR, which didn’t worked out, so he had to push back to the pits. Later on he tried again to start the engine and this time it succeeded. A marshal now hindered Filla on riding at the rescue track but after a short call with the race direction he was allowed to do so.

Repairs didn’t take long for the Penz13.com Kraftwerk Herpigny Racing Team and they went back out on track. Again they made their way up the time sheets and into the Top Ten of the Superstock class, but Gregory Fastré had another crash. At the exit of the Hasseröder corner he highsided and had to go to the medical center first. Afterwards Fastré decided to bring the bike back in and he pushed it to the pits.

Fastré pushed the bike under a lot of pain and the team found the defect G-Force sensor and therewith the whole electronics weren’t working as they should. Vallcaneras went out again - and Fastré back to the medical center for an x-ray. But at least there are no major injuries and no bones are broken. Vallanceras brought the race to an end in 2.5 turns on his own.

RIDERS QUOTES
Michal Filla: “Shit. It’s a shame for our team and my guys in the garage. We had a good race and I was aiming to help my guys in securing a podium at their home race. But that’s racing. To crown it all I hurt my shoulder again - which I did already twice before this season.”

Gregory Fastré: “What shall I say? One time it all works for you and the next time against you. My crash was heavy - a classical Highsider. I was high in the air and landed on my back. My foot is aching a lot but at least there is nothing broken.”

Pedro Vallcaneras: “Of course I am a bit disappointed today, but that’s part of the game. I would have liked to be on the podium today, but it didn’t work out. Now the only important thing is that Gregory and Michal get well as soon as possible and then we only have one target for Le Mans: We have to win the race there.”
