Moto2 World Champion Marc Márquez, alongside his brother Álex Márquez, celebrated in his home town, a week-end after he took the crown in Australia.
Once again, the small population of Cervera — Lleida — took to the streets this evening to celebrate the success of its two most famous sons: Marc and Álex Márquez. The Moto2 World Champion and his Spanish Championship-winning brother were given a warm homage by their neighbours and fans over the course of more than three hours.
First up was an official event at Cervera town hall, in which both riders signed the Book of Honour and were given a gift by the council to commemorate the day. Then, the party started. The Márquez brothers enjoyed a show of affection from their fans in a cavalcade through the centre of the town. The journey concluded at a specially prepared stage, where the stars of the show spoke a few words to those present.
When the party dies down, the Repsol riders will enjoy a brief rest ahead of the final race of the season: Next weekend at Valencia from November 9th-11th.
Marc Márquez “I am very happy, because in these events you can see how much the people show their appreciation. I try to show them that they are important to me as well, as without them it would be a little more difficult and I am always grateful for the push that they give me.”
