Following the announcement by Bridgepoint in October 2012 that it had reorganised its Motor Sports interests, bringing MotoGP and World Superbike together in a single organisation, the FIM President Vito Ippolito invited the various stakeholders to meet at the headquarters of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme.
The meeting took place on Wednesday in the presence of FIM President Vito Ippolito, Chief Executive Officer Stéphane Desprez and Executive Director Sport Ignacio Verneda, Dorna representatives President and CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta and General Manager Javier Alonso, Infront Director Paolo Ciabatti and Event Manager Daniel Carrera, team representative Giulio Bardi, 23 teams and 5 manufacturers involved in the FIM Superbike World Championship.
After the meeting, FIM President Vito Ippolito said : “The FIM wanted to organise this meeting at our headquarters in order to set up a first contact among all the Superbike stakeholders. Today we confirmed the calendars and technical rules for 2013. There will be further meetings to discuss the technical and operational changes that will be introduced starting in 2014.”
