The city of Sheffield witnessed Toni Bou - Repsol Montesa take first blood in the 2013 FIM X-Trial World Championship, he was delighted to do so after a tough night's work. "The first victory of any championship is always important, so I am pleased to have come out on top tonight. It was a tense fight with Albert (Cabestany), as he was riding incredibly strong and put me under a lot of pressure."
"Therefore I am happy to have delivered a good performance both in the semi-final and final, and when it mattered. Overall it has been a good opening event, obviously I would always like there to be some more difficult section to give me the opportunity to increase my advantage over my rivals, but in all cases you need to adapt to the conditions.
"The work we have done over the winter has shown that we have arrived here in a good level and with only five rounds in this year's championship, it is going to be important to be strong in all the events. Now I will return to training and will prepare for the next round in Barcelona. This is perhaps the most important event not only for me, but all the Spanish riders."
Round two of the 2013 FIM X-Trial World Championship will take place on Sunday 10th February in Barcelona, Spain.
