MOTUL FIM Ice Speedway Gladiators World Championship, Krasnogork (RUS) - Review
Daniil Ivanov confirmed his determination to lift the individual title with an emphatic win over two days in Krasnogorsk in front of nearly 24,000 happy spectators.
On Saturday he scored a spectacular unbeaten win and set up the fastest time of the afternoon on a perfectly prepared track.
With temperatures hovering around freezing on the second day a more relaxed performance saw him drop points to fellow countrymen Vitaly Khomitschevich and Pavel Chaika but he recovered to win the final and leave Moscow with an overall 5 point lead.
Austrian Franz Zorn had a frustrating meeting having scored 11 points on the first day. However he could manage only 3 on Sunday including a retirement and a disqualification for a start infringement. Top Swede was veteran Stefan Svensson with 13 points.
An interesting note is the performance of the two reserves, twin brothers Evgeny and Vasily Kosov born on 11th November 1991 and both looking to be champions of the future.
