The German Team is back in the Top 8 Speedway nations, since 10.00 p.m. Saturday night.
In front of an ecstatic 3000 plus crowd the home nation won the World Team Cup Qualifier and got the final ticket for the World Cup.
In a hard fought meeting the Germans reached 47 points and won the meeting ahead of the USA ( 39 ) Finland ( 38 ) and the Ukraine ( 26 ).
The next step for the German nationalteam will be Vojens on 9. July were they will meet Sweden, Australia and the Danes.
Highly motivated started the team around skipper Martin Smolinski who won the first heat ahead of J. Kylmakorpi and G. Hancock. Two further wins followed by C. Hefenbrock and F. Facher.
After 5 races the hometeam was well in front and never let the leading position out of their hands again. 12 out of a possible 15 points were an extremely good reward for Rene Schäfer´s team.
In the next 5 races the situation changed completely and Team Germany lost their comfortable lead.
Sipper Smolinski motivated his colleagues and from heat 11 on the confidence returned, the home nation took control of the meetingagain.
Team USA and the finnish team were never far behind the eventual winners.
It went as far as heat 23 until Frank Facher took the queckered flag and won the meeting for Germany.
A happy team manager Rene Schäfer said: “We were so often so close to qualify for the final, but at last this time it was our turn to go through.”
