Vintage Motorcycles at the 2010 FIM Conference Meetings

On the occasion of the 2010 FIM Conference Meetings in Geneva, some vintage motorcycles are exposed in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza Hotel where the meetings take place during this week-end (25-28 February).

The Kawasaki H1R 500 of 1970 (75 HP) was used by Swiss rider Gyula Marzovsky – runner-up of the 500cc Grand Prix World Championship in 1969 behind Giacomo Agostini – during the second half of the 1970 season.


The SRS Sidecar was built by wiss rider Hermann Schmid ; the first engine was a OW 31 Yamaha engine with 500cc cylinders and pistons. Hermann Schmid, with his passenger Martial Matile, won two Grand Prix in 1976 (Dutch TT and Czechoslovakia), ending the Championship in the 3rd position. This sidecar is used today in veteran races, fitted with a 750cc 3-cylinder Suzuki of 1972, developing 110 HP.

The Yamaha TZ 350 of 1974 was used in the Swiss Championship a some World Championship events by Swiss rider Rémi Hirschy.

Last but not least, a Motosacoche A1 Dufaux was built by the Dufaux brothers in 1904 – year of the foundation of the FICM ; a racing version of the engine, built in 1905 with a power of 1,5 HP ( !), allowed a top speed of more than 70 km/h.
