The FIM has set up the FIM Product Certification Programme to provide manufacturers with an attractive seal of quality that can be used in all marketing & communication materials.
The FIM Product Certification programme does not imply any kind of liability whatsoever from the FIM and does on no account constitute a homologation of Additional Protective Devices (ADPs) nor a requirement for FIM Competitions.
Please refer to the document "2020 Track Racing_Homologated Barriers" for the complete list of homologated ADPs.
The FIM offers two different levels of Product Certification:
“Recommended” status: "Recommended" status is a powerful leverage for manufacturers seeking a first contact with the motorcycle community. Manufacturers applying for “Recommended” status must have been in business for at least 5 years, and the product for which they are seeking approval must have been in the relevant market segment for at least 4 years.
“Approved” status: "Approved" status is the highest recognition within the Programme. It is especially designed for manufacturers with a proven experience in the motorcycling industry. In addition to the requirements of "Recommended" status, FIM "Approved" status requires product approval by advanced tests of International Test Institutes (TÜV, ISO, UTAC, SAE, FIM Institute) and ongoing quality monitoring during the period of Certification.
